We had our usual holiday party on December 13, and it was fun. Susan took candid shots of all of us enjoying good food, good friends, and lots of time for visiting and chatting. Denice led us in a few games -- complete with prizes, and there were lovely gifts to share. Here are those candid photos, as well as one of the entire group.
There was lots of beautiful show & tell, as well as a fantastic tutorial from Hinde on making labels.
We had a couple of new members this time and a slightly abbreviated show and tell, since many of us brought either our first quilt or the oldest one we still have.
And here are the first/oldest quilts brought in by members.
The meeting was fun, as we had not only our usual show and tell, but members also brought along some of their favorite gadgets to show.
Wendy led us in our regular meeting again this month, and Jeanne's color theory class was moved up a month.
Becky is away for the rest of the summer, so Wendy has generously stepped in to run the meetings -- thanks, Wendy! We refined some plans for our holiday party to be held in December and then had a wonderful show and tell, followed by a sewing project taught by Karen Willette. Remember to click on the photos if you want to see larger versions.
Our meeting had to be moved at the last minute, so we were very grateful that the church across the street from our regular one allowed us to meet there! This was Becky's last meeting for the summer, as she will be away; instead, Wendy Sprattler will attempt to "herd cats" for the next few times. We had the usual reports and show and tell before beginning to work on making (or finishing) pillowcases for Camp Cartwheel. Several people stitched, and others did the pressing. As usual, click on the photos to enlarge, and hover over them to see the captions.
We had great attendance at this meeting, during which it was decided to hold our annual holiday party at a restaurant, though which one is still to be determined. We also decided on a class to be given to interested members by the very talented Ev Dahl. As always we had fantastic show and tell, which was followed by an outstanding demonstration on basic ruler work on a domestic sewing machine; this was given by Hinde.
This was our first meeting in a much larger space, while still in the same building! We had a fun demonstration by Bonnie on how to paint fabric with alcohol markers; she generously provided all of the necessary supplies. Suffice it to say that some of us are a bit more artistically capable than others. ;)
The meeting took place as scheduled, with plenty of "chat time" and a short demonstration by Janice on how to do a braided edge on a fleece blanket. Cool idea!
It was good to see so many members after the holiday season! We have a new leader for the year, Becky Kerna, and she brought dozens of examples of her work to serve as inspiration for what we're going to do at our meetings this year. The exact schedule is yet to be finalized, but I'll update the monthly topics as soon as that happens. Meanwhile, here are Susan's photos from this meeting and the wonderful show and tell we had.
We had our usual holiday party at the Boulevard and -- as always -- it was a lot of fun. Sadly, our fearless leader Patsy is "retiring", but we'll be in good hands with our new leaders. More about them next time. The food was good (what else is new?), and we all talked and visited before eating and then playing our game to distribute the gifts for the exchange.
